MEET OUR PASTOR
My name is Pastor Halle Kluever, and I began my call at St. John’s Lutheran Church in August of 2021. This is my first pastorate, and I feel truly honored to partner with this congregation in ministry!
I'm originally from McFarland, Wisconsin, which is a small town south of Madison. I attended the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) and earned a degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology. Following the completion of my bachelor’s degree, I attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota and earned my Master of Divinity in 2020. I served First Lutheran Church in Downtown Pittsburgh for my pastoral internship (2019–2021), during which I oversaw their Christian Education and Youth Ministry programs.
My passions for ministry include: making pastoral visits, leading worship and preaching, connecting with our youngest members through Christian Education and Youth Ministry, and outreach to the community. It excites me to collaborate with St. John’s in its weekly congregational life, service to the greater Slatington community, and robust Vacation Bible School. This congregation's heart for service deeply matches mine, and I'm energized by finding new ways for us to be the hands and feet of Christ!
I'm married to my husband Josh, who's a PhD candidate in the History Department at Binghamton University in New York. Josh has an aspiration of becoming a college professor, and his area of expertise is United States history, with a focus on Modern America (post-Civil War to present). In the spring of 2020, Josh completed all of his exams and coursework, and he's currently researching at archives and writing his dissertation. He can also be found teaching his own courses and leading discussions for undergraduate students.
Slatington quickly became home to us, and we love to explore the area. We're always looking for recommendations for restaurants, activities, day trips, and events, so please share with us some of your favorite Lehigh Valley experiences! And if you see us out and about at Giant or (inevitably) at Mama’s Pizza, please say “Hi"—we’ll most likely be the ones in Wisconsin apparel!
