FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSAre Children Welcome at Worship?Jesus said, “Let the little children come.” The presence of children in worship, even when they are noisy, is a gift to the Church and a reminder that our congregation is growing! Coloring pages and crayons are made available for our youngest members to help engage their imaginations during worship. These items are found on the ushers' table inside the entrance to the sanctuary. In worship, the pastor will also offer a children's message before the readings for children who wish to come forward.
Can I Receive Communion if I'm Not a Member? We believe distributing and receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion reflects the unity of the Body of Christ and the dignity and new life of the baptized. Therefore, we at St. John's practice open communion, where baptized Christians of all faithful expressions are invited to come forward to receive our Lord's Supper.
Is the Church ADA Accessible? The north entrance nearest the church office is ADA accessible for the first floor of the building, where the Fellowship Hall and bathrooms are located. There is a chairlift in the rear stairwell for individuals who cannot ascend or descend stairs. This chairlift is accessible by the entrance located in the rear of the church (Middle Alley).
Is Parking Available? We have two parking lots on the south side of the church. The entrances are located on Second Street. Parking is also available in the alley next to the parsonage on Sunday mornings from 7:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
What Can I Expect at Worship? Our worship follows the ancient Christian pattern of Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending, which is reflected in the liturgies we use from the hymnal Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW). Our services include organ and piano music, and our choir and vocalists provide special music throughout the year.
What is the Sunday Schedule? We hold worship services at 8:00 AM and 10:15 AM, and both worship with traditional Christian liturgy. The Sunday School Hour is at 9:00 AM. Between services, many adult parishioners gather in our Fellowship Hall to visit. Please see the church's calendar for more specific information.
Can I Borrow Church Equipment?Anyone wanting to borrow church equipment (tables, chairs, coffee pots, etc.) for any outside events must sign out the borrowed equipment in the church office. Call the church office at (610) 767-6361 prior to your event to make sure the church equipment is available for the dates you would like. When returning the equipment back to the church, please sign your name and the date the equipment was returned on the sign-out sheet in the church office.
